Sandals and Beaches are the two halves of the same operation: Sandals is adults-only, Beaches is the family version. Same parent company, same management, same training programs, same Robert Mondavi wines at every bar. The decision between them is mostly about whether your trip includes kids. But there are real second-order differences too. Here is the head-to-head for 2026.

The 30-second answer

Sandals if you are traveling as a couple. Beaches if you are traveling with kids of any age. There is no overlap at the property level: Sandals does not allow guests under 16 (under 18 at most properties), and Beaches caters specifically to families with kids 0-17. The same parent company runs both, so booking, food quality, butler training, and wedding programs are identical between the two brands.

Inventory comparison

Sandals has 17 resorts spread across 8 Caribbean islands. Beaches has 4 resorts on 3 islands. If destination variety matters, Sandals has the clear edge. Sandals also has Caribbean exclusives Beaches does not match: 4 properties with overwater bungalows, 6 with included golf, 1 boutique all-butler property (Sandals Royal Plantation). Full Sandals lineup in my best Sandals resort guide; full Beaches lineup in my best Beaches resort guide.

What’s included: identical core, different extras

Both brands include the same core: every meal at every restaurant, premium liquors, watersports (snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, sailing, water-skiing, wakeboarding), PADI scuba diving with certification, tips, taxes, daytime and evening entertainment, and round-trip airport transfers. Sandals adds candlelight beach dinners and Red Lane couples massage at the Honeymoon Package level. Beaches adds Pirates Island Waterpark passes, Sesame Street character meet-and-greets, kids’ clubs by age band (0-2 / 3-5 / 6-9 / 10-12 / 13-17), free PADI for kids 8+, and Xbox Play Lounge passes for older kids.

Pricing: Beaches is more expensive per couple

For an apples-to-apples comparison (Concierge Suite, 7 nights, shoulder season, 2 adults), Beaches typically prices 15-25% higher than the equivalent Sandals. The premium reflects the family infrastructure (waterparks, character programming, larger family-suite layouts). For families with kids the math still wins because everything is included; for couples without kids, Sandals is the clear value pick.

Suite categories

Sandals’ headline suite categories are Skypool Suites, Rondoval Villas, Overwater Bungalows, and Butler Suites. Beaches has comparable Concierge and Butler tiers, plus family-specific layouts: Two-Bedroom Villas, Three-Bedroom Villas, and Skypool family suites at Beaches Turks & Caicos. The largest single suite at Beaches T&C sleeps 8.

Which deal stack works on each

Both run 7-7-7 promos several times per year. See my dedicated guides for Sandals 7-7-7 and Beaches 7-7-7. Both stack repeat-guest discounts and group rates (5+ rooms unlocks free wedding ceremony). The biggest deal-stack difference: Sandals’ Honeymoon Package is automatic for couples married within 6 months; Beaches’ equivalent “family package” is more limited.

Wedding and honeymoon programs

Sandals’ Aisle to Isle wedding package is complimentary with 5+ paid rooms over 3+ nights; Beaches has the same program for family weddings (and includes kid-friendly ceremony venues). Sandals’ Honeymoon Package is automatic with marriage certificate proof; Beaches does not have the equivalent because it is family-focused. For weddings with both adults and kids, book Beaches: it is the only option that allows kids at the ceremony venue while still offering the same wedding planning team. Full breakdown in my Sandals wedding packages guide.

If you might travel both ways: status carries over

Sandals and Beaches share the Sandals Select Rewards program. A stay at either brand counts toward your status. So if you have stayed at any Beaches resort and you are now planning an adults-only trip, you already qualify for repeat-guest discounts on your Sandals booking. Same in reverse: a Sandals stay counts toward Beaches repeat-guest pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Sandals and Beaches the same company?

Yes. Both are owned by Sandals Resorts International (SRI), a private company headquartered in Jamaica. Sandals is the adults-only brand (17 resorts); Beaches is the family-friendly brand (4 resorts). Same management, same training programs, same wines, same butler tier.

Can kids stay at Sandals?

No. Every Sandals resort is adults-only. Sandals Grande Antigua allows guests 16 and up; every other Sandals is 18 and up. For family trips with kids book a Beaches resort instead, which is the family version of Sandals.

Which is cheaper: Sandals or Beaches?

Sandals is cheaper per couple. Beaches is 15-25% more expensive per equivalent suite per couple, reflecting the family infrastructure (waterparks, character programming, larger suites). For families with kids the math still wins because everything is included; for couples Sandals is the clear value pick. For Sandals’ lowest current rates see my cheapest Sandals resort guide.

Are the food and drinks the same at Sandals and Beaches?

Yes. Both brands use the same Robert Mondavi wines, the same Beringer at every bar, the same premium liquor selection, and the same chef training programs. Food consistency is identical between the two brands at the property-pair level.

If I have stayed at Beaches, do I get repeat-guest discounts at Sandals?

Yes. Sandals and Beaches share the Sandals Select Rewards program, and stays at either brand count toward your tier. A previous Beaches stay qualifies you for repeat-guest discounts (5-15% off) on a Sandals booking, and vice versa.
