Sandals & Beaches Review

Best Time to Go to Sandals Resorts (2026 Month-by-Month)

The “best” time to visit Sandals depends on what you are optimizing for. The cheapest weeks are not the warmest weeks. The best weather is not the best deal. And hurricane risk is not the same on every island. Here is my month-by-month breakdown for 2026, plus the windows I personally book for my own family trips.

The 30-second answer

For the best price-to-weather ratio: early November or early May. For the most reliable weather: February or March. For the cheapest week of the year: the second or third week of September (with travel insurance for hurricane risk). Avoid Christmas, New Year, US spring break (mid-March to mid-April), and US Thanksgiving week unless you are willing to pay 2-3x the off-peak rate.

January: cold escape, premium pricing

January is peak winter escape season. The weather is excellent across all Sandals resorts (low humidity, daytime temps 78-83F). Prices are at full peak from January 2 through the end of the month. The exception is the second week of January immediately after holiday returns, when occupancy briefly dips and you can occasionally find shoulder-rate deals. Sandals usually launches a major 7-7-7 promotion in early January for travel later in the year.

February-March: best weather, peak prices

The most reliable Caribbean weather of the year is February through mid-March. Trade winds are consistent, daytime humidity is low, and rain is rare. This is also when prices peak. February is one of the most expensive Sandals months, often 50-80% above September rates. If you want guaranteed weather and money is not the main constraint, this is the window. For the best value during this period, look at the smaller properties like Sandals Halcyon Beach.

April: spring break premium, then deal week

The first three weeks of April carry US spring break premium pricing, especially the family Beaches resorts. The last week of April is often the first real value window of the year, with rates dropping 20-30% from peak. Weather is still excellent. Sandals frequently launches a spring 7-7-7 promotion in early April that you can use for fall travel.

May: my favorite value month

May is one of my two favorite months to book Sandals trips for clients. Rates are 25-35% below peak. Weather is still in the dry season for most islands. Hurricane season has not yet started. Crowds are noticeably thinner. The first two weeks of May are the sweet spot, before Memorial Day demand pushes rates back up. Sandals Negril and Sandals Ochi in Jamaica are particularly strong May values.

June: hurricane season starts, prices keep dropping

Hurricane season officially starts June 1, but the actual peak risk window is mid-August through mid-October. June is statistically still very low risk and rates continue to drop. Heat and humidity start to climb noticeably, especially for the Jamaica and Bahamas properties. Saint Lucia, Grenada, Saint Vincent, and Curacao stay more comfortable thanks to their southern position. June pricing is roughly equal to May.

July-August: family Beaches peak, Sandals shoulder

Beaches resort family travel peaks in July and August (US summer break). Sandals adults-only properties stay in shoulder pricing. Heat is at the year’s high, especially the second half of August. The Crop Over festival (Barbados, mid-July to early August) and Antigua Carnival (early August) are cultural highlights worth planning around if you want a more local experience. Jamaica’s Reggae Sumfest (mid-July) is the same.

September: cheapest month, highest hurricane risk

September is the cheapest single month at Sandals, often 35-50% below peak. The catch is hurricane risk peaks mid-August through mid-October. The southern Caribbean (Saint Lucia, Grenada, Saint Vincent, Curacao, Barbados) has materially lower hurricane risk than the northern islands (Bahamas, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos). If you want September pricing without storm anxiety, book the southern resorts and add cancel-for-any-reason travel insurance. Sandals usually launches its strongest 7-7-7 promotion in early September.

October: still cheap, weather improves

The first half of October still falls in peak hurricane risk. The second half starts to clear. Rates are still close to September lows. By late October the weather pattern shifts back toward dry season, and the southern islands are particularly pleasant. October is good for travelers willing to take a small weather risk for substantial savings.

November: my other favorite value month

The first two weeks of November (before US Thanksgiving) are my second favorite value window of the year. Hurricane season is winding down. Weather is reliable. Prices are still 25-35% below winter peak. By Thanksgiving week, demand jumps significantly and prices return to near-peak levels. After Thanksgiving through the first week of December, there is a brief secondary value dip before the December holiday peak.

December: holiday peak, then January reset

The week of Christmas through New Year is the single most expensive week of the entire Sandals year. Rates run 2-3x off-peak. Bookings often need to happen 12+ months in advance for holiday week to even have inventory. The first 2 weeks of December are the cheapest weeks of the entire month, before the holiday wave. Many couples I know book the first week of December for an early “we deserved this” trip after a busy fall.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the cheapest time to go to Sandals?

The single cheapest week is typically the second or third week of September. Other strong value windows: first two weeks of May, first two weeks of November, and the first week of December. Avoid Christmas/New Year week, US spring break (mid-March to mid-April), and US Thanksgiving week.

Is hurricane season really a big deal at Sandals?

It depends on the island. The southern Caribbean (Saint Lucia, Grenada, Saint Vincent, Curacao, Barbados) sits south of the main hurricane corridor and gets hit very rarely. The northern Caribbean (Bahamas, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos) has higher direct-hit risk, especially mid-August through mid-October. If you book during peak hurricane season, buy travel insurance with cancel-for-any-reason coverage. Sandals’ “Sandals Promise” also rebooks free of charge if a named storm directly affects your resort.

When is the best weather at Sandals?

February and March have the most reliable Caribbean weather: low humidity, consistent trade winds, almost no rain. April and December are also strong. November and May are very good with slightly higher rain probability. June through October are progressively more humid with afternoon thunderstorm risk and elevated hurricane probability.

Do Sandals prices change a lot through the year?

Yes. The same room category at the same resort can be 2-3x more expensive during Christmas week than during the second week of September. A typical butler suite at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, for example, might run $750/night in mid-September and $2,000+/night between Christmas and New Year.
