We just got back from a week at Beaches Negril our first time at a Beaches (or Sandals) resort and first trip to Jamaica. We traveled as a family of three (two adults and our 8-year-old daughter), and while we had some memorable moments, we left feeling like the whole place could use a little refresh – in both style and service. The Good:    •   The Beach is the Star: The sand and water are beautiful. Grab a spot before 8am if you’re picky, but people do move around so it’s not impossible to find one. Later on. Shades can be a challenge if you are not early enough. The anchored rafts in the calm ocean were a family favorite.    •   Water Activities Galore: The included water sports were a highlight. Snorkeling was surprisingly great – lots of colorful fish, even for first-timers. Glass bottom boat was neat. Banana boat rides were a huge hit for our daughter. Water trikes and kayaks were fun too.    •   Entertainment Team: Truly a standout. The shows were fun and well-timed so the kids could enjoy and still get to bed. The vibe they brought made a difference.    •   Cafe de Paris: We found ourselves here often. Coffee and treats were consistently good. Froyo bar was popular with the kids – do-it-yourself style and always a hit.    •   Special Mentions: A few team members truly made an impression. Shaudine at Stella was warm and attentive, going above and beyond to make our meal feel special. Shaunek on beach service was the one to offer beach service—and she made it count. Trevon on the Beach: Great with kids and played beach soccer with our daughter, teaching her all sorts of tricks. . And Kevon on the beach was another standout: kind, helpful, and full of good energy. The OK    •   Service is Spotty: Some folks were great (like those above and the lifeguards), others seemed totally disengaged. Pool bar service was hit or miss.    •   Food Overall Just Okay: A couple bright spots like the nacho bar at Mariachi and Café Paris, and Stella was good. Yaku was good definitely catered to kids with fried rice and Mac and cheeee. The rest very average. Soy’s sushi tasted fishy, though the apps were good. Buffet had long lines for the make your own omelette bar and not a lot of rotation.    •   Cabana Service: We rented one and while it was “fine,” I wouldn’t call it worth the price unless you’re with a large group. Since there’s not regular beach service, it might help there.    •   Room Issues: We were in Building 8 (tip: top floor Lux King has a peek of the ocean). Room felt worn down, and the bathtub backed up daily. Slow drains, spotty hot water, and ants everywhere. Also – no drying rack, even after asking four separate times. Walls are paper-thin, so hope for quiet neighbors too. The Not-So-Great:    •   No Room Tour or Orientation: We were just dropped off with no idea where anything was. Had to figure it out ourselves.    •   No Room Service: Not a dealbreaker for us, but surprising for the price.    •   Towel Shortage by 3pm: Plan ahead – they’re out early.    •   Nothing to Do When it Rains: And it rained a lot. There are game areas with foosball, ping pong, etc., but it gets crowded quickly. Splashpad really geared toward the 5-and-under crowd. Waterslides (2) were a huge hit - fast and fun    •   From the rooms to the restaurants, nothing felt especially fresh or well-maintained. Paint chipping, awnings dirty, pool not especially clean.    •   Vendors for Extras: You’ll see vendors offering tubing, parasailing, etc. Just know those aren’t included – and they’re expensive ($100–$200+ per activity). Hair braiders all over the beach if that’s your thing too    •   Photo Pricing is Wild: $20 per photo or $200–$600 for packages. A bit of sticker shock. We made great memories and loved parts of our trip – especially the beach, snorkeling, and evening shows – but overall the resort felt like it’s coasting on its location and branding. For the cost, we expected better food, more consistent service, and fresher facilities. I can see why people love Jamaica, and I’m glad we came, but not sure we’d return to this resort without some big updates.

We had the most amazing butler last week at Beaches, Negril. Novia knew what we wanted before we even asked. She or her partner brought coffee, pastries, and fruit to our villa each morning. Then at lunch she would bring the most delicious lunch to the beach for us to enjoy. She had each night’s reservations made and walked us to the restaurants. I hope you get a chance to experience Novia as your butler for a week. You will certainly be blessed.

We just returned from a family trip with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren, ages 9 and 5. It was a fabulous trip. My husband and I stayed in one of the Montpelier buildings on the ground floor in a Luxury King Room that had both a tropical and ocean view. The room was very spacious with plenty of storage, a stocked fridge and coffee bar. There was also a large, cushioned chair that folded out to a twin size bed. There was a patio area with a drying rack, and nice white wicker table with 2 chairs. The sink/mirror/closet area separated the bedroom from the bathroom, which had a door to close off the toilet and shower/tub. We were just steps away from The Mill restaurant, which has the buffet dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was a little concerned that the noise might be bothersome since our room was so close, but if we closed the bathroom door, you could not hear any noise at all. The resort is a perfect size and did not feel crowded at any time with other guests. There was always plenty of chairs available on the beach, though the ones closest to the sea were always reserved. We all enjoyed the water park, especially the lazy river. We also enjoyed kayaking, water trike, hobie cat, and glass bottom boat. We tried each of the restaurants, and they were all phenomenal. Right after we arrived, we visited the concierge to make reservations at Stella, Yaku, and Kimonos, which are the only 3 that require reservations. Keep in mind when making reservations that the nightly entertainment is at 8:30 PM. We particularly enjoyed Stella, Soy, and Yaku. YoYo's and Cafe de Paris were visited daily, sometimes multiple times daily! El Mariachi's taco bar was also great. The nightly entertainment exceeded my expectations. My favorite night included Jamaican bamboo pole dancing (not what you think) and Limbo Joe. All of the entertainers throughout the week seemed to have just as much fun as we did, and the shows were all very family friendly. There is a kids club area that is super nice. We never dropped the grandchildren off there, but our granddaughter did participate in a couple of activities that they offered. The service and staff we encountered were terrific. My only recommendations would be that a tv channel guide be provided in the rooms and that information about the daily kids entertainment and nightly entertainment be more readily available. We would love to return!

On the far western side of Jamaica, you’ll find the friendly town of Negril. Here in the midst of gorgeous beaches and calm waters sits the beautiful resort of Beaches Negril. A close second on our list of Top 5 Beaches resorts, it ties with Beaches Turks & Caicos in terms of scenic beauty. It comes only slightly second overall because it’s smaller in scope than the first resort on our list, even though it’s still impressively large and delightfully complete.

Overview

Great vibes and a casual atmosphere set this Beaches resort apart. From the moment you arrive at Beaches Negril, you’ll feel your cares melt away as you embrace island living at its luxurious best.

With world-class entertainment, spacious accommodations, and unlimited access to Negril’s Seven-Mile Beach – frequently voted as one of the best in the world – the resort offers you plenty of opportunities for romantic sunset strolls, nightly entertainment, water sports, and leisurely naps to recharge before getting back out to explore and do more.

Beaches Negril At a Glance

  • An all-inclusive resort on the west end of Jamaica known for spectacular sunsets, gorgeous beaches, and calm waters
  • Over 185 all-new rooms and suites available, including tropical beachfront suites
  • More than a dozen room categories available
  • Dining options include 9 gourmet restaurants to choose from
  • There are 7 bars to try, including two swim-up bars
  • You can enjoy 7 miles of white-sand, turquoise-water beaches, with coral reefs and lagoons
  • Two pools are available, plus three whirlpools
  • Enjoy a waterpark, golfing, a liquid night club, and an optional spa

What You’ll Find at This Beaches Resort

Play on seven miles of beaches that face west for perfect sunsets. Here you can walk from the soft sandy shore into the clear, warm Caribbean Sea and keep walking for long stretches, thanks to the shallow waters. After enjoying the beach, head back to the heart of the resort where you can relax in your comfortable accommodations, enjoy gourmet fare, and take part in everything Beaches Negril has to offer.

Entertainment options are many and varied. Enjoy daytime and nighttime options, taking part in live shows, beach parties, nightclubs, bonfires, street parades, and more. Choose your favorites for water sports; you can go kayaking, windsurfing, knee-boarding, or partake in other water activities using top-of-the-line equipment, guided by skilled instructors.

Beaches Negril offers guests plenty of land activities, too. Tennis is available day and night. There’s a fitness center for your workouts, as well as basketball courts. Enjoy lively games of beach volleyball and soccer, or cool down with a board game or billiards. There’s plenty to do, and it’s all included.

Rooms and suites are beautifully appointed. You can select whatever you prefer, with many options to choose from including oceanfront suites and luxury rooms with lush tropical garden views and private patios. All rooms are comfortable and luxurious, and you can add greater levels of service when you opt for Concierge Service or Butler Elite.

When you get hungry, you’ll find great food to satisfy your hunger. The elegant Venetian offers gourmet Italian meals. Enjoy made-to-order sushi creations at Soy Sushi Bar. Overlooking the resort’s main pool and the ocean beyond, The Mill serves both Caribbean and international fare. In addition to serving you through nine uniquely themed restaurants, Beaches Negril provides you with a self-serve frozen yogurt locale that also offers gelato, sorbet, and non-dairy options.

What We Like Best

We absolutely love the casual ambiance of this luxurious resort! Beach Negril provides you with beautiful surroundings and elegance at every turn, but the atmosphere is casual for a truly relaxing experience.

And the setting is nothing short of paradise. Miles of scenic beaches, transparent blue waters, sugary sand to walk on, swaying palm trees, and dramatic sunsets make this the perfect honeymoon or anniversary vacation spot.

These are the top reasons we like Beach Negril so much:

  • Miles of perfect beaches with clear, calm waters ideal for wading, swimming, or doing watersports
  • The swimming pools and whirlpools are attractive and inviting
  • Eat day or night at one of several five-star all-included restaurants and a yogurt shop
  • You can partake in as many or as few of the entertainment options you want – it’s all completely up to you
  • With many activities and fitness opportunities to select, you can create your own ideal blend of keeping active and taking time to rest
  • If you want a higher level of service, concierge and butler services can be selected with some room types
  • Here you can enjoy the convenience of an all-inclusive resort experience in an environment that’s equal parts laid-back and luxurious

What Might Make This the Best Beaches Resort for You

If you’re looking for an all-inclusive Beaches resort that offers all the amenities you want but is more laid-back and low-key, choose Beaches Negril. The surrounding beach scenery is so beautiful it might bring your eyes tears of awe.

While smaller than the Beaches resort at Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, Beach Negril is by no means small. There is still much to do and explore here. If you think you would prefer a more intimate setting without endless options, this might be a better choice for you.

Ultimately, determining which Beaches resort is the best is a personal matter. Before reaching a decision, browse through photos of the different resorts. Which ones draw you in the most?

The great thing about Beaches resorts is that all of them offer an all-inclusive experience, well-appointed rooms, beautiful settings, and so much to do that you’ll never be bored. Choosing your getaway destination will be influenced by your own personal preferences, regardless of what resort guides may say or recommend. If you choose Beaches Negril, you won’t be disappointed.
